Softball Earns All-Conference Accolades

Bakersfield, CA - The Pacific Coast Softball Conference announced its all-conference selections earlier today and four Gaels were honored. Senior Lauren Mello and junior Bronwyn Russell were named to the All-PCSC First Team. Junior Sandra Ruezga was named to the All-PCSC Second Team and Megan Galloway was named Honorable Mention.

Senior slugger Lauren Mello earned first team honors after a season that saw her hit eight homeruns and 13 doubles. She was among the top offensive players in the conference. She was among the best in several offensive categories, including homeruns (8), runs (32), RBI (31) and stolen bases (12). In PCSC play she led the conference with four round trippers. This marks the first time that Mello has been named all-conference. She was named the PCSC Player of the Week twice earlier this season.

Bronwyn Russell was named to the All-PCSC First Team.


Junior Bronwyn Russell was named to the first team after a very impressive conference season. She led the Gaels and was second in the PCSC with a with a .435 conference average. Russell led the PCSC with seven stolen bases in conference play was third in conference play with 27 hits. This marks the third time that Russell has been named to the all-conference squad and her second time on the first team.

Junior Sandra Ruezga earned second team honors second team after posting a .308 batting average. She was second on the team with 11 doubles and third on the team with three homeruns and 19 RBI. In conference play Ruezga batted .354 with 20 hits. In conference play she recorded 10 runs and eight RBI. This marks the first time that Ruezga has earned all-conference accolades.

Sandra Ruezga was named to the All-PCSC Second Team.


Junior Megan Galloway was named honorable mention. Galloway batted .273 on the season and was second on the team in homeruns (7) and RBI (27) was fifth on the team in hits (45) and runs (23). Galloway was fifth in the conference with seven homeruns and 12 stolen bases. As a pitcher she led the Gaels in the circle with 3.51 ERA as she recorded six wins...she led the team with 111.2 innings pitched and was second on the team with 56 strikeouts. This is the first time that the junior has been named all-conference.

Megan Galloway was named All-PCSC Honorable Mention.
