LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Three Lion softball players were named to the PCSC Commissioner's Honor Roll that was announced today. The honor roll features student-athletes with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Senior Brittany Bassett was joined by freshmen Megan Ackerman and Nicole Levine on the list.
Bassett recently graduated from LMU with a 3.08 GPA as an accounting major. Basssett, LMU's first ever PCSC Freshman of the Year in 2003, earned second team All-PCSC honors in 2006 for the second straight year. It is the third time in her career that Bassett has earned All-PCSC honors, picking up a first team nod in 2003. This season, Bassett was limited to first base and the designated player role by injuries, but she was a strong contributor at the plate. For the season, she hit .268 with five home runs, two doubles and 22 RBI. In conference play, she raised her average to .291 with two home runs and a team-high 12 RBI.
Ackerman earned second team All-PCSC honors at third base in 2006. She hit .273 overall with a team-high 11 doubles. She recorded 15 RBI and 21 runs with 12 walks. In conference play, the third baseman hit .255 with her first career home run, a grand slam. She finished her first year at LMU with a 3.32 GPA as an Athletic Training major.
Levine is a Television Production major with a 3.50 GPA. She appeared in 16 games in her first season with the Lions, mostly as a pinch runner. She scored three runs on the season.
