Saint Mary's Softball Honored for Academics

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's softball team had nine players make the Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Pacific Coast Softball Conference announced Tuesday. The PCSC honors players who have succeeded both on and off the field; competing in Division 1 softball while maintaining a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher.

Of the nine Gaels to be honored, the Saint Mary's middle infielders have shined on the field and in the classroom. Second baseman Bronwyn Russell and shortstop Justine Larsen earned the second and third highest G.P.A.s in the conference with 3.96 and 3.89, respectively. Russell will be entering her junior year as a Health Science major. Larsen received her degree in Kinesiology in the spring. Her 3.89 G.P.A. led her to be nominated for valedictorian of her graduating class.

Corner infielders Michelle Mathis and Sandra Ruezga were also named to the Commissioner's list. Third baseman Michelle Mathis posted a 3.64 G.P.A. as a Liberal and Civic Studies major. First basemen Sandra Ruezga earned a 3.27 G.P.A. as a Health Science major.

Seniors Marcia-Marie Euker and Eleni Papailias were honored with Honor Roll status in their graduating year. Leftfielder Marcia-Marie Euker received a G.P.A. of 3.10 en route to her degree in Kinesiology. Catcher Eleni Papailias earned a 3.45 G.P.A. receiving a degree in Politics.

Gael pitcher Kate Albaugh earned a 3.26 G.P.A. She will be entering her senior year as a Chemistry major.

Saint Mary's freshmen were also represented on the Commissioners Honor Roll. Kayla Aldridge received a 3.01 G.P.A. Heidi Eisenbeis earned a 3.09 G.P.A. as a Psychology major.
