Softball To Play Nine Games In Non-Traditional Season

Sept. 12, 2007

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego softball team announced their non-traditional season this week. The Toreros will play a total of nine games in October and early November, including a four game appearance in the San Diego State tournament.

"We have a great group of young ladies who are ready to compete at every level," said head coach Melissa McElvain.

Last year, the Toreros broke numerous individual and team records, the most notable being a team high 24 wins (the most since 2000) and a program record 20 victories against Division I opponents.

"We will work extremely hard this fall and challenge ourselves on a daily basis in order to improve upon last season and prepare for the 2008 spring season," explained McElvain.

The coaching staff is also excited about the announcement of the 2008 softball schedule which includes six tournament appearances and taking on both the UC San Diego Tritons as well as the San Diego State Aztecs.
