Moraga, CA - Saint Mary's softball finished their fall schedule this past weekend by scoring two wins against Sonoma State and Feather River. The Gaels muscled out a 9-6 win in the final inning against Sonoma State. The Gaels beat Feather River by a score of 10-1.
Against Sonoma State, the Gael offense was led by Sandra Ruezga and Chelsea Loftis. Ruezga came to the plate with the bases juiced and struck a ball into the outfield. Ruezga tripled and plated three runs. These runs would prove costly as Sonoma State would tie the ball game in the sixth inning. In the top of the seventh with a runner on second and two outs Loftis doubled in what would be the game inning run. Loftis would come around to score in a three run Gael seventh.
Saint Mary's offense and defense shined in a game against Feather River. Kate Albaugh struck out eight batters in four innings in a 10-1 Gael victory. Melissa Barretto went 2-4 with a double and two RBI against Feather River.
After a successful fall season the Gaels look forward to beginning their spring season in early February.
