Waves Perform Well in Irvine Relays

Jan. 9, 2005

Irvine, Calif. - In the second and final day of the UC Irvine Invitational, the Pepperdine women's swimming and diving team placed in the top 11 in all but one of the events in Sunday's relay meet.

The 4 x 200 free was the lowest race for the Waves where the team took 13th place out of 24 teams.

The highlight of the day was the 3 x 100 breast relay, where Pepperdine secured a ninth place finish with a time of 3:37.09.

The team took 11th place in the four other events they competed in, which were the 200 medley, 3 x 100 back, 3 x 100 fly and the 4 x 50 free.

Day two of the invitational also concluded the diving meet. In one meter competition Lindsey Stevens secured sixth place with 456.50 points, a nice compliment to her third place finish in Saturday's 3 meter diving. Emily Andrews also placed Sunday taking home 12th place with 427.20 points.

Pepperdine will be in action at home this Friday as they open up their 2005 dual meet schedule against Cal State Northridge at noon.
