San Diego Defeated by Northern Arizona

San Diego, CA - Kelly Cobourn, Nicole Draa, Ashley Rose and Ashley Swart were all honored prior to the start of Friday afternoon's swim meet against Northern Arizona. Amongst cheers from their teammates, they ran through the tunnel of hands where they received a bouquet of flowers from head coach Mike Keeler and assistant coaches Shawna Ghausi and Tori Cadora.

The Toreros had six 1st place finishes and four 2nd place finishes in the 16 event meet. Senior Ashley Rose grabbed a first place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.61. Fellow senior Ashley Swart finished captured 1st in both the 100 freestyle in 53.86 and the 400 individual medley in a time of 4:27.64. She also placed second in the 50 freestyle in 24.87.

Sophomore Joy Miller grabbed 1st place in the 200 butterfly and 2nd place in the 100 butterfly. Teammate Meghan Peter picked up a pair of 1st place finishes as well in the 100 breaststroke, 1:08.00, and in the 200 breaststroke, 2:29.34. Newcomer Erin Voyles also picked up a first place finish in her 200 freestyle event with a time of 1:57.24.

USD travels to cross-town rival UCSD to take on the Tritons Saturday, January 21 at 12:00 pm.
