Los Angeles. Calif. -
Pepperdine women's swimming and diving came up on the short end of both competitions at the double dual meet at Loyola Marymount Friday. The Waves lost to the host Lions 137-68 and were defeated by San Diego State 144-96.
The point totals came up short against both teams despite a good day in the water from Kady Skora. Skora earned the most points of any Pepperdine swimmer by taking second in the 1000 yard freestyle (11:01.87) and then third in 500 yard free (5:23.31).
Junior Ketrina Lemmen also notched two top five finishes, as did freshman Michelle Sutherland. Lemmen took second in 200 free with a time of 1:56.45, and fourth in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.05. Sutherland registered third and fourth place finishes in the 100 butterfly and the 200 individual medely, respectivly.
Waves diving proved again to a force versus any competition. Pepperdine's three competitors in the one meter dive took a close first, second and third. Gina Warren won the event followed by Lindsay Stephens. In the three meter event Stephens finished first with 261.90 points, while Emily Andrews claimed second with a 236.10 score.
The meets conclude Pepperdine's regular season, but the Waves will compete in the Pacific Coast Swimming Conference Championships in Long Beach, February 16-19.
