San Diego Jumps Into Sixth Place At WAC Championship

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of San Diego women's swimming and diving team completed day two jumping ahead one spot in the Western Athletic Conference Championship to sixth place overall with an even 100 points. San Diego is ahead of seventh place University of Idaho and Boise State University.

Day two began with the 500 yard freestyle event. Both Sarah Gleason and Erin Voyles swam their way past the prelims into the finals. Gleason took 14th place overall with a final time of 5:07.87 earning USD three points while Voyles took 17th place with a time of 5:06.82.

San Diego got two swimmers into the finals of the 200 yard individual medley. Meghan Peter earned 10th place in a time of 2:09.65 while Kristen Yoon captured a 14th place finish in a time of 2:11.24. Joy Miller captured 22nd place with a time of 2:13.77 in the event.

USD's Tina Levesque captured an individual team high on the day swimming to eighth place in the 50 yard freestyle in 24:31.

In the 1 meter diving event, Addy Bardnarski earned a 20th place finish overall earning score of 170.40.

In the final event of the day, the "A" squad (Tina Levesque, Meghan Peter, Joy Miller, Jen Leopold) earned seventh place overall in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:38.56 tallying 24 points.

Action continues tomorrow at Palo Alto College Natatorium in San Antonio, Texas with the 400 individual med¬ley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 3-meter diving and 400 medley relay. Prelims begin at 11:00 a.m. and the finals start at 6:30 p.m.
