Toreros Improve to Seventh Place Overall On Final Day of WAC Championship

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of San Diego wrapped up the Western Athletic Conference swimming and diving championship meet Saturday afternoon. The Toreros finished in day three in seventh place with an overall score of 172 points.

Erin Voyles finished the third day with a team high fifth place in the 200 yard freestyle event with a time of 1:52.97 earning USD 14 points. Meghan Peter took sixth place in her 100 yard breaststroke event with a time of 1:05.97 taking 13 points. Kristen Yoon finished the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 58.73 for seventh place earning 12 points. While Joy Miller took ninth place in the 100 yard butterfly event with a time of 57.85 earning nine points for USD.

In the 400 yard medley relay event (Yoon, Peter, Miller, and Tina Levesque), San Diego's "A" squad took seventh place overall as the group earned 24 points in a time of 3:56.80.

On the final day of the meet, Peter tallied a fourth place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke in a time of 2:22.02 earning 15 individual points. Yoon captured an eighth place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:07.85. Miller also took an eighth place finish in her 200 yard butterfly event with a time of 2:08.46. Sarah Gleason swam her way to an 11th place finish in the 1650 yard freestyle in a time of 17.36.39.

In the 400 yard freestyle relay, the USD "A" squad (Peter, Levesque, Voyles, and Yoon) took sixth place earning 3:31.26 and capturing 26 overall points.

The Toreros finished in seventh place in the WAC swimming and diving championship earning a total of 245 points to wrap up their 2006-07 season.
