ATLANTA, Georgia - The University of San Diego sent two of the top swimmers to the 2007 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming Short Course National Championships this pas week. Sophomore Kristina Levesque and Meghan Peter both represented the Toreros at the meet where nearly 1500 athletes from across the country converged to battle for a chance and Olympic gold.
Levesque and Peter both swam four events at the meet, the 50 yard freestyle, the 100 yard freestyle, the 100 yard breaststroke, the 50 meter freestyle (Levesque), and the 100 meter freestyle (Peter).
In the time trial events, Levesque posted a 53.79 time in the 100 freestyle and a mark of 1:11.42 in the 100 breaststroke. In the preliminary race leading up to the final in the 50 yard freestyle, she finished in a time of 24:56.
Teammate Meghan Peter recorded a 50 meter freestyle time of 24.75 and a 100 yard freestyle mark of 52.57. Peter then made it to the 100 yard breaststroke preliminaries where she finished in 1:07.05.
The Toreros return to the water on Saturday, December 15 as they take on their first Western Athletic Conference opponent Northern Arizona University at home in the USD Swim Complex.
