Malibu, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's swimming and diving team completed its first day of competition at the UC Irvine Invitational held at the Anteater Aquatics Complex on UC Irvine's campus. After a three-week break, the Waves boasted top-notch performances against top schools such as Purdue and Toledo, placing fourth in the sprint meet. The Waves surpassed Toledo, Cal Baptist, Cal State Northridge, San Diego State and Chapman.
Junior Ali McLeod placed third in the 50 fly with a time of 26.40 and fifth in the 100 back, swimming 59.80. Senior Nicole Okuna took fifth place in the 100 fly with a time of 59.47, while senior teammate Heather Brehmer swam to a sixth place in the 50 free finish with a time of 24.53.
