Malibu, Calif. - The Pepperdine swimming and diving team had a great start after one day of competition at the Pacific Coast Swimming Conference (PCSC) Championships in Long Beach, Calif. at Belmont Plaza.
The Waves placed three divers in the Top 8 and two divers in the Top 16, while the 200 medley relay team placed sixth overall.
The 800 free relay team of senior Ketrina Lemmen, sophomore Katharine Skora, freshman Haley Wilson and junior Ali McLeod swam to a second place finish with a time of 7:39.32, which also puts the team in the Pepperdine record books. The team surpassed the second place all-time best time set in 1998 and missed the school record by just one second.
In addition to the 800 free relay, Ketrina Lemmen swam her best time in the 200 free, swimming the first leg for the Waves. She clocked a 1:53.49 (her lifetime best) moving her into 5th all-time best time in Pepperdine's swimming history. The 200 Free has not been broken into since 2000. Additionally, she improved in the 50 back, replacing her previous all-time best time for 5th.
The Waves look to continue their success on Thursday, February 9 in the second day of the Conference Championships.
