Malibu, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's swimming and diving team will open its season when it hosts the Malibu Invitational held at Raleigh Runnels Pool on Saturday, October 29. Cal Lutheran, Cal Poly, Loyola Marymount, and the host Waves will participate in the meet. Cal Lutheran and Cal Poly will also have its men competing in the meet.
The meet will open at 10 a.m. with sprints and the 3-meter dive and at 2 p.m. distance and the 1-meter dive will begin.
Swimmers can enter as many events as they wish and each team may enter two relay teams. The invite will be scored as an individual high point, instead of the customary team competition, with the top eight places scoring.
Head Coach Nick Rodionoff enters his sixth season with the Waves and is very optimistic about the team this year. "I think we are going to open a new chapter of Pepperdine swimming this year. The preseason has been very positive and I'm looking forward to seeing the girls compete on Saturday."
The meet will allow the Waves to participate in different events giving them valuable experience before next weekend's competitive Big West Shootout.
