Pepperdine Swimming and Diving Competes in Big West Shootout This Weekend

Malibu, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's swimming and diving team will compete in the Big West Shootout hosted by UC Irvine at the Anteater Aquatics Complex this weekend. The action kicks off Friday, November 4 at 12 p.m. and concludes Saturday, November 5 at 10 a.m.

The meet will feature two pools of competition with Washington, Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge, San Diego (women) and host UC Irvine in one pool. Hawaii, UC Davis, BYU (men), Stanford (women), Pepperdine (women) and Idaho (women) will compete in the second pool. The top-two women's teams plus the top remaining finisher will compete in the championship pool on Saturday.

In last year's Big West Shootout, the Waves earned ten top-five finishes.

The Waves opened their 2005-06 season with success last weekend when they hosted the Malibu Invitational. Sophomore Katharine Skora took the high point for Pepperdine in the distance meet. In the sprint meet, junior Alison McLeod captured the team high point, while junior Lindsay Stephens led the way for Pepperdine's diving team and took the overall high point mark for both the one meter and three meter dives.
