Malibu, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's swimming and diving team will take part in the Speedo Cup hosted by UC Irvine beginning Thursday at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach, Calif. The event, which marks the final competition of the fall, will feature some of the top Division I and Division II teams on the West Coast.
Pepperdine will be one of 23 teams to make up the competitive women's field which includes Air Force, BYU, USC, Colorado State, New Mexico, Northern Arizona, San Jose State, San Diego, LMU, Cal State Northridge, Alaska Fairbanks, UC San Diego, Occidental, Redlands, La Verne, UC Santa Cruz, Chapman, Cal Baptist, Soka, Cal Lutheran and host UC Irvine.
Thursday's events will kick off with the 200 Free Relay, 500 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free and 400 Medley Relay.
Pepperdine first began competing in the Speedo Cup in 2001 and last year placed 12th among 20 teams, with Stanford taking the top spot for both the men and women.
