Pepperdine Swimming Begins Competition at Speedo Cup

Malibu, Calif. - Day one of the Speedo Cup hosted by UC Irvine came to a close at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach. The Waves had five Top 25 finishes after Thursday's events.

Pepperdine's best race of the day was in the 200 IM with senior Alison McLeod placing sixth with a time of 2:07.32, while sophomore Haley Wilson placed 13th with a time of 2:10.40.

Freshman Danielle Kimmel, along with McLeod, placed in the Top 25 of the 50 free with McLeod taking 20th in a time of 24.88. Kimmel wasn't far behind swimming to the 23rd spot in 24.93.

Junior Loriann Mark led the Waves in the 500 free with a finish of 16th and a time of 5:09.83. Also swimming strong was freshman Brianna Blanchard who placed 28th with a time of 5:14.76 and junior Kady Skora who came in at 5:15.41.

Tomorrow's events will include 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and 800 free relay.
