Pepperdine Swimming Signs Dani Kimmel to National Letter of Intent

Malibu, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's swimming and diving team announced the signing of Dani Kimmel to a national letter of intent during the early signing period. Kimmel, who swims breast and freestyle sprints, will be a freshman for the Waves when classes start in September.

A resident of Chula Vista, California, Kimmel is the two-time defending San Diego CIF Division I 100 yd breastroke champion. Kimmel, a breastroke specialist is a two-time All American and current U.S. Open and U.S. Junior National qualifier.

A four-year Varsity letter winner, the Eastlake HS Senior is the current Swim & Dive Team Captain and was voted Eastlake HS Outstanding Swimmer and San Diego Metro Conference Female Swimmer of the Year the past three years (2003-2005).

Dani's 2005 season best times in breast and sprint events also earned her South Bay Aquatics club team Senior Swimmer of the year honors. Her best times include a 1:04.58 in the 100 breast, a 2:22.89 in the 200 breast, a 24.24 in the 50 free and a 52.67 in the 100 free. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has earned Academic All-American and CIF All-Academic First Team honors throughout her high school career.

Kimmel also swims sprint freestyle events and should provide an immediate impact to the Waves swim program in breast, sprint free, and relay events in the 2006 season.
