Malibu, CAlif. - The Pepperdine women's swimming and diving team concluded its second day of action on Friday at the 2005 Speedo Cup held at UC Irvine. In today's events, the Waves qualified for the finals in all events except one.
Senior Nicole Okuna swam to an eighth-place finish in the 100 fly in a time of 58.14 after swimming her best time of the season in the preliminaries (58.01), while junior Ali McLeod placed 16th in the finals with a 59.03. McLeod also had a top-finish in the 100 back placing 22nd with a 59.62, while teammate Ketrina Lemmen wasn't far behind with a 26th-place finish with a time of 59.44, which was the senior's best time of the season in the event.
Freshman Sara Kallman placed 25th in the 100 breast swimming a 1:08.84. She swam her season best in the preliminaries with a 1:08.62.
The 800 free relay team of Wilson, Loriann Mark, Kady Skora and McLeod placed 11th swimming a 7:55.22.
The Waves conclude action Saturday. Events include the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and the 400 free relay. Complete results can be found at http://www.swim.uci.edu/2005speedocup.html.
