TOREROS WIN OPENER OVER HAWAII,7-0

SAN DIEGO, Calif.- The University of San Diego women's tennis team (1-0), under the direction of 23rd-year head coach Sherri Stephens, opened up their 2007 schedule with a 7-0 win over Hawaii (0-3). The Toreros opened the match by winning the doubles point as they took all three matches. USD went on to sweep all six singles matches with wins coming from Monica Wiesener at No. 1 (6-2, 6-3 vs. Kana Aikawa), Helene Lindstrand at No. 2 (6-3, 6-2 vs. Sophie Kobuch), Samantha Mouley at No. 3 (6-3, 6-3 vs. Chloe Bihag), Zoe Taylor at No. 4 (6-2, 6-2 vs. Jacqui Williams), Alexandra Demidova at No. 5 (6-2, 6-1 vs. Florence Wasko), and Sophia Vogt at No. 6 (6-2, 6-1 vs. Julia Sandborn).

The Toreros, play nine straight home matches to open the season, return to the USD West Courts on Wednesday, Jan.24th, when they host Cal State Fullerton at 1 pm.
