No. 18 Women's Tennis Cruises to 5-2 Victory over San Diego State

MALIBU, Calif. -

The No. 18 Pepperdine women's tennis team kicked off its three-match road trip with a 5-2 win over San Diego State on Tuesday at the Aztec Tennis Center. With the win, the Waves improved to 6-4 on the season, while the Aztecs fell to 4-7.

The Waves came up big in doubles sweeping all three matches. Sylvia Kosakowski and Eva Dickes defeated Alesya Vidov and Eliska Krausova 8-2, while Jill Braverman and Tania Rice put away Kathryn Kitts and Milana Yusupov 8-3 for the doubles point. Bianca Dulgheru and Katia Sabate defeated Holly Bagshaw Sisse Nielsen 8-7 at No. 3.

In singles, Raba was the first Wave to win as she defeated Esther Cadua 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4. Sabate defeated Vidov 6-3, 6-0 to put the Waves up 3-0 and No. 59 Dulgheru clinched the match at No. 1 with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Bagshaw.

Dickes gave the Waves their last point with a 6-2, 6-7, 10-4 win at No. 5 over Nielsen.

The Aztecs received two points at No. 2 and No. 6. Krausova defeated No. 94 Kosakowski in three sets 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 and Yusupov defeated Rice 10-6 in the super-breaker.

Pepperdine continues action on the road and travels north to take on top-ranked Stanford on March 2 and Cal on March 4.
