San Francisco, CA - The Saint Mary's women's tennis team improved to 8-0 today as they defeated Bay Area rival San Francisco. The Gaels defeated the Dons 6-1. The Gaels improve to 3-0 in conference play.
The match started with doubles and the Dons jumped out in front. The Dons defeated Aude Lambert and Jessica Hoath as well as Erin Young and Marah Calvo. This marks the first time that Young and Calvo have dropped a doubles match all season.
After USF won the doubles point the Gaels responded by winning all six singles matches in straight sets. Aude Lambert won her ninth straight singles match today 6-2, 6-3. Jessica Hoath followed by winning her match 7-5, 6-2. Hoath has won five straight matches.
No. 94 Femke Strijbis defeated her opponent 6-4, 6-1. Marah Calvo remained perfect in singles today as she downs her opponent 6-2, 7-5. Erin Young breezed through her match 6-0, 6-2. Young has won her sixth straight singles match. Stef Ordoveza won her fourth straight match today 6-0, 6-4.
The Gaels will return to conference action tomorrow when they host No. 69 Loyola Marymount. The match will begin at 3:00 p.m. from the Korth Tennis Complex.
