(San Francisco) - USF women's tennis lost a hard-fought 4-3 decision to visiting Loyola Marymount Sunday afternoon in West Coast Conference action at Golden Gate Park. The Dons (3-7, 1-3 WCC) split the singles play but dropped the doubles point to the Lions (4-4, 2-2 WCC).
San Francisco dropped the doubles point and it proved the difference as the Dons split the doubles matches against Loyola Marymount. USF collected singles wins at No.3 as Mylene Martin captured a marathon match win against Tamara Tanner 5-7, 6-4, 10-4, while Jenny Sperry played some of her best tennis of the season, capturing a 6-3, 6-0 win against Erin Ivey at No. 4.
Joana Macedo posted a 6-1, 6-4 win against Serena Fermin at No. 5, 6-1, 6-4.
USF looks to snap a three-match losing streak when it travels to San Diego to compete in the USD Tournament, beginning Friday, March 9 on the University of San Diego campus. The Dons open tournament play against Southern Methodist at 9:30 AM on Friday.
