Lions Get WCC Win

San Francisco, CA - The Loyola Marymount women's tennis team earned a huge road win against a West Coast Conference foe, defeating San Francisco 4-3 at Golden Gate Park on Sunday. The Dons (3-7, 1-3 WCC) split the singles play but dropped the doubles point to the Lions (4-4, 2-2 WCC).

LMU took the doubles point and it proved the teams split the single matches.

Pavla Mesterova and Robyn Baker teamed for an 8-4 win at No. 1 singles while Sernea Fermin and Tamara Tanner claimed an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles. Erin Ivey and Elrien de Villiers fell at No. 3 doubles, 8-3.

Mesterova improved to 14-4 overall on the season and 6-1 in dual matches with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Camille Pamart. Baker claimed a win at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-4. Coming through for the Lions and earning the fourth point was freshman de Villiers, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 6 singles. She improves to 7-3 on the year, 4-0 at No. 6 singles.

The Lions continue their five-match road trip in the Bay Area with Santa Clara on Wednesday, March 7 at 1 p.m.
