HONOLULU, Hawaii - The Gonzaga University women's tennis fell 7-0 to No. 10 University of North Carolina Thursday night in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The match, which was scheduled to start at 5 p.m., PT was delayed three hours and did not begin until 8:30 p.m.
With the loss, Gonzaga slips to 3-10, while UNC improves to 15-5 for the season.
In doubles play, the Zags dropped all three matches to the Tarheels. At the top position, Emily Anderson and Kendall Bates fell to No. 29 Sara Anundesen and Katrina Tsang 8-1. Sydney Lederhouse and Erin Humphrey feel to Austin Smtih and Meg Fanjoy 8-2 at the No. 2 spot. Rounding out doubles matches, Carrie Schofield and Aglaya Kokurina fell to Laura Reichert and Alexandra Jurewitz.
Gonzaga was unable to rebound in singles play, dropping all six matches in straight sets. At the top position, Anderson fell to Caitlin Collins (6-0, 6-1). Kokurina fell at the No. 2 spot to No. 54 Smith (6-2, 6-4). At the No. 3 position, Lederhouse was defeated by No. 68 Sanaz Marand (6-0, 6-1). Bates fell to Reichert (6-1, 6-1) at the No. 4 spot, while Schofield fell to Jurewitz (6-0, 6-1) at the No. 5 spot. Rounding out singles play, Courtney Lau fell at the No. 6 position to Linzee Mabrey (6-3, 6-0)
The Bulldogs will resume play Friday when they face San Jose State University in Honolulu at 1 p.m., PT.
