SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's tennis team rolled past Wisconsin Friday at USD's West Tennis Courts. The Toreros made a sweep of the doubles ladder and won all but one match in singles to claim a 6-1 victory over the Badgers. San Diego now stands at 7-4 on the season while Wisconsin holds an overall record of 3-10.
In doubles, all three Torero duos defeated their competition. The 57th-ranked pair of Emma Murphy and Lauren Perl sailed past the Badgers' Kaylan Caiati and Morgan Tuttle by a score of 8-2 at the No. 1 spot. Jenny Brown and Helene Lindstrand clinched an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles while Sophia Vogt and Brittany Reitz defeated their opponents 8-6 at No. 3.
Senior Emma Murphy, ranked 47th nationally, handed Kaylan Caiati a 6-1, 6-0 loss at No. 1 singles while fellow senior Jenny Brown secured a 6-0, 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot. Lauren Perl at No. 3 singles defeated Nicole Beck by scores of 6-3 and 6-0. Brittany Reitz won at No. 5 singles (6-3, 6-0) and Sophia Vogt earned a victory at the No. 6 spot with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Morgan Tuttle. Helene Lindstrand took her No. 4 singles match to three sets, pulling off an 6-3 upset in the first set, but couldn't hold on.
The Toreros face Kansas State on Sunday in a 10:00 a.m. match at USD's West Tennis Courts. The Wildcats rank 56th in the nation and are coming off a 6-1 win over the University of Kansas.
