Women's Tennis Wins Third Straight

MALIBU, Calif. -

It was a one-sided affair Wednesday afternoon as the Pepperdine Waves won their third straight match 6-1 over the Princeton Tigers at the Ralph-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif.

Pepperdine improved to 11-7 on the season, while Princeton fell to 7-4 on the year.

Sylvia Kosakowski and Katia Sabate got Pepperdine off to a fast start with an 8-0 victory on double's court No. 1. Princeton evened the score of court three after Laura Trimble and Kristen Scott downed Jillian Braverman and Tania Rice 8-4. The duo of Eva Dickes and Anete Bandere secured the point for the home team with a tightly-contested 9-7 victory on court No. 2.

Braverman pushed the lead to 2-0 with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 victory over Joanna Roth on court six which was followed by a Dickes victory over Darcy Robertson, 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 on court three. Rice clinched the Waves' third straight victory on court five with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Ashley Blakely.

Princeton spoiled the shutout on court two as King picked up a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Sabate. But Pepperdine picked up victories at court four and one to cap the match.

Pepperdine will continue its nine-match homestand Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. PDT when it hosts Sacramento State.
