Malibu, Calif. - Picking up its fifth consecutive win, the No. 8 Pepperdine women's tennis team swept Loyola Marymount (LMU) 7-0 in a West Coast Conference match on Wednesday afternoon at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif. With the win, the Waves improved to 14-2 on the season, while the Lions dropped to 3-8.
Pepperdine won the doubles point after sweeping all three matches. At court one, No. 22 Merve Asimgil and Sylvia Kosakowski defeated Patrycia Hubl and Erin Ivey 8-3, while No. 25 Bianca Dulgheru and Eva Dickes handed Maja Sundac and Sladjana Kos an 8-3 defeat. Natalie Braverman and Caroline Raba won their fourth straight match at No. 3, beating Pavla Mesterova and Shawnell Russell 8-2.
No. 27 Dulgheru easily captured a win on court one, defeating Mesterova 6-0, 6-2, while Asimgil and Lise Sissler also won in straight sets at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Experience and consistency was key as Kosakowski, Braverman and Dickes all picked up wins for the Waves in the tiebreaker.
Pepperdine is back in action on Wednesday, March 29 when it takes on No. 1 Stanford at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m.
