San Diego Women's Tennis Defeats LMU

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The No. 47 University of San Diego women's tennis team clinched a narrow 4-3 victory over West Coast Conference opponent Loyola Marymount. With the win, San Diego now stands at an impressive 9-4 on the season.

In doubles action, San Diego saw victory in the top two spots. The Torero duo of Emma Murphy and Lauren Perl, who currently rank in at 57th in the nation in doubles, took an 8-5 victory over Pavla Mesterova and Robyn Maker of LMU. Helene Lindstrand and Jenny Brown defeated Erin Ivey and Patrycia Hubl 8-2, while Brittany Reitz and Sophia Vogt lost their doubles match by a score of 8-2.

Senior Emma Murphy, ranked 42nd in the nation, defeated the Lions' Mesterova at No. 1 singles by a final score of 6-2, 6-2. Jenny Brown took a close 7-6 victory in her first set against Robyn Baker, then finished the win with a 6-2 routing at the No. 2 spot. Freshman Sophia Vogt dropped her first set to LMU's Erin Ivey by a score of 6-2 but would come back to win the next two sets by scores of 7-6 and 6-3.

The Toreros travel to Fresno where they will face the Fresno State Bulldogs on Sunday, April 2 in an 11:00 a.m. match.
