Waves Roll Past Saint Mary's

MALIBU, Calif. -

The Pepperdine Waves ran their current win streak to six Tuesday afternoon with a 6-1 victory over Saint Mary's Gaels at the Ralph-Straus Tennis Center in West Coast Conference (WCC) action.


Pepperdine closes out its nine-match homestand with an 8-1 record in the regular-season home finale.


The Waves picked up the double's point when Sylvia Kosakowski and Katia Sabate earned an 8-4 victory on court No. 1 and Eva Dickes and Anete Bandere followed suit with an 8-5 win on court No. 2. Alicia Poladian and Tania Rice were unable to make it a double's sweep, falling 8-6.


Sabate extended the Pepperdine lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-3 straight-set victory over Jessica Hoath at the No. 2 position. Bandere continued the Waves' winning ways with a straight set victory over Nieke Strijbis at the No. 4 position.


Jillian Braverman clinched the match for Pepperdine with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the No. 6 position. The sweep remained intact after Dickes rallied to better Femke Strijbis at the No. 3 position but Rice would fall at the No. 5 position to Marah Calvo as Saint Mary's earned its lone point of the contest.


Pepperdine will close out the regular season with four straight road matches starting Saturday in Waco, Texas against Baylor.
