Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's women's tennis team competed in its final home match of the 2007 season today. The Gaels hosted Bay Area rival San Francisco for a final conference match before the WCC Championships. The Gaels defeated the Dons 5-2. Aude Lambert was honored for senior day as she won her final home singles and doubles matches today. The Gaels improve to 15-3 on the season. They finish the season with a perfect 9-0 at home.
Aude Lambert played in the final home game of her career at Saint Mary's. She is currently one of the most decorated players in the programs history. She has been named to the WCC First Team as well as to the WCC All-Academic Team. She was named the WCC Player of the Month for March this season as well as WCC Doubles team of the Month for May in 2006.
Today she won her final singles match of the season 6-2, 6-1 as her team won the competition 5-2.
"This was a good match for us" said Lambert. "The team has played very well this season and has a lot of confidence as we go into the WCC Championships." Of her career as a Gael the senior added that "I have had a great time while at Saint Mary's. I believe a big part of my success here has been the relationships with my teammates and the support they have given me."
The rest of the Gael squad did their part as well. Jessica Hoath dropped her first set 4-6 but came back to win the match 6-2, 6-1. Marah Calvo won in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. She improved to 17-1 on the season. Stef Ordoveza won her match 6-1, 6-0. Ordoveza has won eight of her last nine singles matches.
The Gaels will play in one final regular season match against the Fresno State Bulldogs. The Gaels will then compete in the WCC Championships from Malibu, CA next weekend.
