MALIBU, Calif. -
After waiting out the weather for six hours Friday, the Pepperdine Waves women's tennis team needed just over one hour to advance to the second round of the West Coast Conference (WCC) women's tennis championship as they handed the No. 8 seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs a 4-0 loss at the Ralph-Straus Tennis Center.
Due to limited daylight, the teams started with single's play where Caroline Raba defeated Kendall Bates, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 3 position. Soon after Raba's victory, Eva Dickes recorded a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sydney Lederhouse and Katia Sabate blanked Aglaya Kokurina 6-0, 6-0. At the No. 1 position, Sylvia Kosakowski completed the sweep with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Pepperdine's will have to wait until tomorrow to learn who its next opponent will be as the San Francisco vs. San Diego match was halted due to rain with San Diego leading 3-1. That match will resume at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.
