San Diego Head Coach Sherri Stephens
I think we played well. We came out ready to play, ready to fight. We have a lot of injuries right now, but we made it through * on to tomorrow.
On playing singles first rather than doubles:I think in our situation, it was better for us because we wanted to get our points as quickly as possible and get off the court. When you play doubles, you only get one point anyway, so this way, we had a shot at getting our points quickly.
Portland Assistant Coach Katherine Hatch
We knew it was going to be a tough match today, but my girls competed and showed their best out here today. We knew San Diego was going to be a tough opponent.
On playing singles first rather than doubles:I would say that it was a challenge, but one that my team was prepared for. Regardless of what the situation is going to be, I think my team is going to be the same whether we played singles or doubles first. I don't think it really affected us much.
On Portland's state of mind heading into tomorrow's match:I think it will be great. Playing a team like San Diego can bring your level up and I think we played up to them. I am confident in whoever we play tomorrow, the energy we used in this match will carry over.
