No. 19 Pepperdine Reaches Title Match of WCC Championships

Malibu, Calif. - The 19th-ranked and top-seeded Pepperdine women's tennis team defeated No. 5 seed San Diego 4-1 Saturday afternoon at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center to advance to the title match of the West Coast Conference (WCC) Championships.

The Waves (17-9) will meet No. 2 seed Saint Mary's in the championship match on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. The Gaels topped No. 3 seed Loyola Marymount, 4-1, on Saturday.

Pepperdine enters Sunday's match seeking its fifth straight WCC title and 19th overall.

The No. 2 doubles team of Jillian Braverman and Katia Sabate and No. 3 team of Tania Rice and Sylvia Kosakowski won the respective matches to give the Waves the doubles point.

In singles action, Kosakowski, Sabate and Anete Bandere recorded victories, with Bandere clinching the win with a victory at No. 5 singles.

San Diego's lone win came at No. 3 where Helene Lindstrand defeated Caroline Raba, 6-3, 6-2.
