In the 21-year history of WCC tennis, Pepperdine has captured the conference crown on 19 occasions following today's victory.
Pepperdine won a hard-fought double's point after the No. 1 team of Sylvia Kosakowski and Bianca Dulgheru defeated Jessica Hoath and Aude Lambert, 8-1. Saint Mary's used a late rally on court No. 3 to tie the point at 1-1 after Marah Calvo and Stef Ordoveza bested Jillian Braverman and Katia Sabate, 8-6.
With the ever important double's point on the line, the No. 2 Gaels' team bounced back from a 5-1 deficit in the match to force a tie breaker. The tandem of Anete Bandere and Eva Dickes scored five of the first six points in the first-to-seven tiebreaker before staving off two separate match-point attempts en route to the 10-8 victory and a 1-0 lead in the match.
