Emma Murphy Drops First Round Match of NCAA Singles Championship

PALO ALTO, Calif. - University of San Diego senior Emma Murphy dropped her first round match at the NCAA Singles Championship Wednesday afternoon to Clemson University's Federica van Adrichem at the Taube Tennis Center on the campus of Stanford University. Scores went 6-3 and 6-2.

The trip marked Murphy's third straight appearance in the postseason tournament. A two-time West Coast Conference Player of the Year, she finished the regular season as the WCC co-Player of the Month for April and was named to the All-WCC First Team for her fourth consecutive year. She rode a 14-game win streak through the end of the regular season and into the 2006 WCC Championships where she led the Toreros to a third place finish. She finishes her senior campaign ranked No. 41 nationally and an overall record of 13-3.

The Toreros took third place at the 2006 WCC Championships and finished the season with an overall record of 11-7.
