Emily Anderson, of the Gonzaga University women's tennis team, won the singles bracket of the Gonzaga/Eastern Washington University Classic Sunday at Cheney, Wash.
The title marks the second time this season a Bulldog has won a singles title. Last weekend, Rika Mehndiratta won the No. 2 singles title at the Cougar Classic. Mehndiratta nearly won her second title of the fall season Sunday, but was unable to overcome Anderson in the semifinals, falling 6-2, 6-3.
After posting a victory in the semifinals, Anderson earned the championship title with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) win over Knox of Eastern Washington.
The Bulldogs will hit the courts again on October 12-14 when they travel to Moraga, Calif. For the Saint Mary's Classic.
