Women's Tennis Starts Out Strong at Saint Mary's Invitational

Moraga, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's tennis team had a great day at the Saint Mary's Invitational on Friday. The team won 12 of its 14 matches in singles and doubles and four players won two matches and advanced to the quarterfinals of their singles bracket on the day. Captain Myra Davoudi, senior Kim Daniel, junior Lindsay McBride and freshman Meghan Madden all advanced to the quarterfinals in singles. In doubles, Casey Knutson and Erika Barnes moved on to the quarterfinals in Flight "A", while the teams of Davoudi and McBride and Daniel and Madden moved on to the quarters in Flight "B".

Davoudi won a three-set match in the Round of 32 and a tough two-set match in the Round of 16 of Flight "B" to set the pace for the Broncos. Madden won her first career match before advancing on to the quarterfinals of Flight "C". Daniel and McBride are also in the Flight "B" bracket quarters.

Knutson and Barnes defeated San Francisco's No. 1 doubles team in the Round of 16.
