Lederhouse Posts Win In Opening Round

Berkeley, Calif - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team's Sydney Lederhouse posted a victory in the opening round of the singles main draw Friday at the ITA Regionals hosted by the University of California in Berkeley, Calif.

Lederhouse posted a win in the round of 128 with a straight set victory over San Jose State's Slivana Dukic (6-2, 6-2). Lederhouse was unable to advance in the main draw to finish the day, falling to Stanford's Lelia Hodzic in the second round (6-0, 6-3).

In doubles play, Lederhouse and Erin Humphrey defeated the University of San Francisco's Camille Pamart and Joana Macedo, 8-6, in the first round of the main doubles draw. Despite the win in the round of 64, the Zag team was unable to advance past the round of 32 in the main draw, slipping to fourth-seeded Carmen Seremeta and Claudia Hirt of Stanford University, 8-3.

The other Gonzaga doubles team of Kendall Bates and Emily Anderson, fell to Saint Mary's College's Caitlin Aloia and Feline Charlot in the opening round, 8-6.

Consonlation play in both singles and doubles play will being Saturday.
