(San Diego, CA) - The USD women's tennis team is participating in this weekend's SDSU Fall Tennis Classic being hosted by the Aztecs. In today's second-day action, the Toreros competed well and came away with three wins. Helene Lindstrand, playing in the back-draw of Flight 2 singles, handed Jessica Broadfoot of UC Irvine a 7-6 (1), 6-2 setback. Lindstrand will face SDSU's Milana Yusupov in Sunday's consolation final. In Flight 3 singles, Milou Teeling beat SDSU's Ozge Atalay, 6-2, 6-4. Teeling will take on Oklahoma's Elena Antakova on Sunday in the consolation final. Alex Demidova lost her second round match to TCU's Maria Babanova, 6-1, 6-1, and will play Washington's Tara Simpson in Sunday's Compass Draw final.
In Flight 1 singles, Monica Wiesener lost to Oklahoma's Chelsea Orr, 6-2, 6-3, and Samantha Mouly withdrew from her scheduled match. In Flight 4 singles, Justine Perl dropped a 6-1, 6-3 match to Washington's Melinda Wong. Perl will take on OU's Rachael Cox in the Compass Draw final tomorrow. In Flight 5 singles, Ellie Faulkner beat UW's Ariel Ohno, 6-2, 3-2 retired.
In doubles action, Mouly-Lindstrand lost to UW's Ardies-Simpson, 8-3 in Flight 1 doubles action. The Torero tandem of Teeling-Wiesener lost to SDSU's duo of Colman-Atalay, 8-6 in Flight 2 doubles. In Flight 3 doubles, Perl-Demidova lost to UCI's Shih-Welliver, 8-1.
