Women's Tennis Competes at Cal Winter Invite

Moraga, CA - Saint Mary's women's tennis will start the 2008 Spring season in the Bay Area, as they travel to Berkeley, CA for the Cal Winter Invitational. The Gaels, who currently earned a No. 57 Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason team ranking, will face players from California, Fresno State, and Nevada. Competition begins on Friday, January 18 and will continue through Sunday, January 20.

Eight of the participating players were ranked by the ITA singles preseason rankings, with California's No. 10 Susie Babos leading the way. The other seven players include; No. 11 Anastasia Petukhova (Fresno State), No. 31 Bojana Bobusic (California), No. 39 Melanie Gloria (Fresno State), No. 48 Maria Mizyuk (Nevada), No. 52 Marion Ravelojaona (California), No. 54 Cristina Visco (California), and No. 94 Renata Kucerkova (Fresno State).

All four teams participating in the tournament earned ITA rankings, with No. 6 California topping the list. Fresno State is not far behind, as they grasped the No. 14 spot, and Nevada is slightly behind the Gaels at No. 66.
