No. 14 Women's Tennis Hosts Cal Poly in Season Opener on Saturday

Malibu, Calif. - The No. 14 Pepperdine women's tennis team will host Cal Poly on Saturday to open its 2007 season with a start of 11 a.m. at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif.

Junior Bianca Dulgheru leads the Waves in singles with a No. 22 ranking, while junior teammate Sylvia Kosakowski is a part of Pepperdine's two doubles teams ranked in the Top 35.

Also returning from last year's starting lineup are seniors Eva Dickes and Caroline Raba. Head Coach Gualberto Escudero, who begins his 30th season with the team, also returns junior Vanessa Dunlap and sophomore Alicia Poladian. Escudero brings in a top recruiting class which includes Anete Bandere, Jillian Braverman, Tania Rice and Katia Sabaté.

In doubles, Kosakowski and Dulgheru team up for a No. 21 ranking, while Bandere and Kosakowski share the No. 33 spot.

Pepperdine, which has won its season opener since 1980, looks to extend its series record to 10-0 against the Mustangs.
