No. 14 Pepperdine Hosts UC Irvine Friday; Travels to No. 3 USC Saturday

Malibu, Calif. - The No. 14 Pepperdine women's tennis team will host No. 55 UC Irvine on Friday in a 1:30 p.m. match before making the short trip to the third-ranked USC Trojans for a Saturday match scheduled for noon at Marks Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif.

UC Irvine is 2-0 on the season, while USC is 1-0 after defeating No. 27 Long Beach State, 7-0. The Waves hold a 31-13 all-time record over the Anteaters, but the Trojans hold a 25-12 advantage over Pepperdine.

The Waves will meet the Trojans once more during the regular season as they play host on February 23.

USC's Sara Fansler leads the Trojans in singles with a No. 9 national ranking, while Dianne Matias and Judy DeVera check in at No. 46 and No. 95, respectively. In doubles, USC has three teams ranked in the Top 25 with DeVera and Amanda Fink ranked at No. 15. When teamed with Lindsey Nelson, Matias is ranked 18th and when paired with Fansler the duo owns a No. 23 ranking.

Pepperdine opened the season with a 7-0 shutout over Cal Poly on Jan. 20.

After the match against USC, Pepperdine will compete at the National Indoor Championships from Feb. 1-4 in Madison, Wis.
