WCC Women's Tennis Announces Weekly Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference announces its women’s tennis weekly honors for singles and doubles competition for February 11, 2014.

WOMEN’S TENNIS SINGLES PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MICHAELA CAPANNOLO, SO., PEPPERDINE
Sophomore Michaela Capannolo helped the No. 44-ranked Pepperdine women’s tennis team to a decisive 6-1 win over No. 48 San Diego State last Saturday in the Waves’ home opener. She nearly shut out the Aztecs Kennedy Davis 6-0, 6-1 from the No. 4 spot in the lineup. Capannolo, ranked No. 112, is 2-1 in singles this season. Her only loss was a narrow three set decision against No. 80 Gabriella DeSimone of No. 6 USC. The Australian native has helped Pepperdine a 2-1 record, with a win over No. 38 UC Irvine in addition to the Aztecs. The Waves’ only loss was a 5-2 setback against the Trojans.

WOMEN’S TENNIS DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK
MICHAELA CAPANNOLO, SO./YUKI CHIANG, FR., PEPPERDINE
Sophomore Michaela Capannolo teamed up with freshman Yuki Chiang in doubles to top San Diego State’s Hailey Johnson and Dora Somoracz 6-2. Capannolo and Chiang are listed at #40 in the ITA Doubles Rankings.
