WCC Women's Tennis in Full Force

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The 2013 season is in full force with WCC teams having already competed in 42 combined matches, including two recent WCC Conference matches.

WCC QUICK HITS

  • Pepperdine was picked to win the WCC title in 2013 in a vote by all nine WCC head coaches. Saint Mary's narrowly edged out reigning WCC Champion San Diego to finish in second and third, respectively. All three teams are currently ranked in the ITA rankings. Santa Clara, BYU, Loyola Marymount, San Francisco, Gonzaga and Portland rounded out the poll.

  • BYU is the only undefeated team left in the Conference. The Cougars have posted three commanding victories thus far and will take their record on the road after hosting Boise State at home this Saturday, February 16.

  • Saint Mary's has been the most active team in the conference, having already played seven total matches in 2013, including a pair of WCC contests. The Gaels visited the Northwest to face both Gonzaga and Portland and returned home with two victories. Saint Mary's also has a win over current No. 58 UNLV.

  • Loyola Marymount has gotten off to a hot start with a 3-1 dual match record, including two sweeps. The Lions' No. 2 singles player, sophomore Tory Parravi, is 2-0 thus far this spring.

  • The WCC January Singles Player of the Month is Saint Mary's junior Jenny Jullien, currently ranked #24 in the country. The Doubles Players of the Month are San Francisco senior Yurie Hashiguchi and sophomore Milica Hadzi-Tanovic.
