No. 19 Women's Tennis Takes on LMU on Friday

MALIBU, Calif. -

Waves Travel to LMU on Friday

The No. 19 Pepperdine women's tennis team will make the short trip to Los Angeles to face cross-town rival and West Coast Conference foe No. 70 Loyola Marymount on Friday in a 1:30 p.m. match at the LMU Tennis Center. The Waves hold a 4-3 record, while LMU is 2-0 on the season.

About the Lions

The Lions just recently kicked off their 2007 season and hold a 2-0 record heading into Friday's match. LMU defeated Cal State Fullerton in its season opener and followed with a 4-3 victory over then-No. 73 UC Santa Barbara. Pepperdine has dominated the series against its WCC foe holding a 24-0 advantage. Last year, the two teams met twice, once in the regular season and in the WCC Championship match. The Waves shutout the Lions in both matches, winning 7-0 and 4-0, respectively.

Last Time...

Pepperdine fell to No. 24 Fresno State, 5-2, on Feb. 10. The Waves won the doubles point, but the Bulldogs responded by winning five straight singles matches.

Next Up...

Pepperdine returns home to host No. 5 USC on Fri., Feb. 23 in a 1:30 p.m. match at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. It is the second time this season the Waves and the Trojans have met. USC grabbed the win in the team's first meeting, 6-1, in Los Angeles.
