SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- With full-fledged Conference play just around the corner, several West Coast Conference teams have notched key non-conference wins.

WCC QUICK HITS

  • Saint Mary's is currently the highest ranked team in the Conference, earning a No. 44 ranking from the ITA earlier this week. On February 16, the Gaels took down Bay Area rival Stanford in a tight 4-3 match. Junior singles player Jenny Jullien, the reigning WCC Player of the Month, is the top ranked ITA singles player in the Conference at No. 18.

  • San Diego was also ranked in the latest ITA poll, coming in at No. 49. The Toreros have recently recorded wins over then-No. 28 Arizona and then-No.68 Hawaii stemming from the strong singles play of Laura Claus, Shani Blecher, Anna Depenau, Marta Stojanovia and Cara Brown, each of whom recorded singles victories in both matches.

  • After suffering their first loss of the season at UNLV, the BYU Cougars rebounded with a neutral court win against Iowa State. The Cougars swept all three doubles matches, followed by four singles wins to notch a 5-2 victory over Iowa State.

  • Upcoming Conference play sees Bay Area foes Santa Clara and San Francisco square off on Sunday, March 3 at Golden Gate Park. The Dons are riding a two-match win streak, while the Broncos will play host to Pacific, before facing San Francisco. Santa Clara junior Katie Le was also featured in the latest ITA poll, as the No. 30 ranked singles player.

  • Other WCC faces appearing in the ITA rankings include No. 121 singles player Danielle Flores (Saint Mary's), No. 14 doubles tandem Khunpak Issara/Lorraine Guillermo (Pepperdine), and No. 37 doubles tandem Catherine Isip/Elizabeth Searl (Saint Mary's).
