San Bruno, CA - The West Coast Conference announced its February Women's Tennis Player of the Month for earlier today. Senior Aude Lambert was named the WCC Player of the Month after a nearly perfect month. Lambert was 7-0 in singles matches during the month and led the Gaels to a 7-0 record in February.
Lambert turned in a near perfect month of February, going 7-0 in singles matches and leading the Gaels to a perfect 7-0 start on the season. The early season success marks the best start in program history, and during the seven matches Lambert has only dropped one set, winning 14 of 15 sets in the No. 1 singles position. Against conference opponents Lambert has posted a 2-0 record, winning both matches in straight sets.
"This is a great honor for Aude" head coach Lisa Alipaz said of her season. "She has been playing extremely well this season and is a big part of the teams 9-0 start."
This honors marks the first time a Gael has earned Player of the Month for Singles. Lambert was named WCC Doubles Team of the Month along with teammate Jessica Hoath in May of 2005.
