SAN BRUNO, Calif.-Pepperdine University senior Lorraine Guillermo has been named the West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week, while doubles teammates Christine Maddox and Matea Cutura earn the doubles weekly honor in the sport of women's tennis, the league announced Tuesday.

Guillermo posted two wins in singles last week, including her second of the year against a top-five ranked opponent. The Walnut, California, native leaped to a career-best No. 15 in the ITA singles poll, opened the week with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 win over Long Beach States' Maeva Razakosoa. The No. 21 Waves defeated the No. 30 49ers, 6-1. Pepperdine then faced off against a top-15 team for the fourth time this season. Although the Waves fell 4-3, Guillermo still earned a win for the Waves. She won her sixth in a row with a close 4-6, 7-6 (4), 10-8 triumph over No. 4 Maegan Manasse. Guillermo is now 2-0 against top-five ranked singles players this dual season, having previously downed No. 3 Robin Anderson of UCLA in straight sets.

Maddox and Cutura improve to 4-0 as a pair after garnering two wins last week. The duo clinched the doubles point over Long Beach State with a 6-4 win against Hayley Thompson and Ebba Unden. Maddox and Cutura followed that up with a 6-3 win versus No. 11 Zsofi Susanyi and Klara Fabrikova of No. 9 Cal. The Waves' No. 2 partners, who entered the rankings last Tuesday at No. 73, are now 2-0 versus ranked opponents thus far this campaign. The Waves defeated Long Beach State, 6-1, before suffering a 4-3 loss to No. 9 Cal. It was Pepperdine's third 4-3 loss to a top-15 team this season.

This week honor marks the second time Pepperdine has swept WCC weekly honors, with the most recent occurring Feb. 23.
