Los Angeles, CA (March 21) -- Loyola Marymount's Pavla Mesterova and Robyn Baker have been ranked together before. They have been noted for their play as a doubles team. However, for the first time the pair find themselves ranked as individuals at the same time.
Mesterova, a junior who is 18-5 on the season, has been in the FILA Collegiate Tennis Rankings by ITA for the last month. She remains there with a ranking of 74. Joining her for the first time is senior Robyn Baker.
The fourth-year player from Palm Desert has won seven straight matches, including a win over the then 16th-ranked player in the nation from Cal, Nina Henkel. She is ranked No. 100 in the poll that ranks the top 125 individuals in collegiate tennis.
Mesterova and Baker have been a one-two punch for the Lions. The have won 16 of their combined 17 matches and 6-1 this spring as LMU's No. 1 doubles team. The only loss for the duo came against the No. 3 doubles team in the nation from Cal, Zsuzsanna Fodor and Susie Babos, 8-6.
The Lions continue a six-match homestand with Nevada on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
